"Mary Jordan has literally insinuated herself into Jack's history even though obviously she never knew him and he would have chased her down the street with a machete. He had, as you know little time for people who he refered to as "brain pickers'" people without ideas of their own who pick ideas out of others and then pass them off as their own...you are as far as I know the only person who knew Jack who didn't fall for Jordan's sociopathic take over of Jack and Jack's legacy...(her) stupid and crass explanations of Jack ....
Jordan used Jack's artwork as her own, taking Jack's images from slides she borrowed from the Plaster Foundation and created collages that had nothing to do with Jack Smith....
Jordan created several evenings in Jack's name, where she publicized her upcoming film. In her press release she crowed
' The most extensive collection of Jack Smith's work since is PS 1 retrospective." and proceeded to create art?work from Jack's images. For Performa she created 'performances' that even NYU students who videotaped the evening were moaning over how boring, flat and empty the experience was. Imagine anything containing Jack Smith being flat?
